Make Healthy Snacks with Nesco 600-Watt Food Dehydrator

My kids have a restless reaction to foods that contain red dye 40.  We figured we could entertain their cravings by making homemade fruit leathers. The ability to make jerky was a bonus for me. I ordered another brand that I thought was going to do the job, but once it arrived I found the construction to be subpar and it was passive, requiring rotation of the trays. I immediately returned it and purchased Nesco unit instead.
